The Agafay spirit. The desert at the gates of Marrakech.
A stone desert, golden hills and the Atlas on the horizon. Everything to know before you go.

A stone desert, not dunes.
Agafay is not a sand desert like Merzouga or Zagora. Its landscape is made of rocky hills, tracks and plateaus in ochre and golden tones.
On clear days, the High Atlas peaks, sometimes snow-capped in winter, dominate the horizon. Throughout the day the light keeps changing the colours of the land, from pale morning beige to sunset copper.
This silent, mineral setting, just outside the city, gives a real sense of wide-open space without long hours on the road.
- Ochre hills and rocky plateaus
- Views of the High Atlas peaks
- Lalla Takerkoust lake nearby
- Spectacular sunsets

The desert, without the long drive.
No need for days of travel: leave in the afternoon, enjoy the sunset and be back the same evening.
Or stay a night in a camp to enjoy the starry sky and sunrise over the Atlas. Activities are easy to combine: quad or camel ride in the afternoon, dinner show in the evening.
Ideal for a short stay in Marrakech, a family outing, a birthday or an evening with friends.
- Leave in the afternoon, back in the evening
- Tent or lodge night available
